Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, and more return in the long-awaited third chapter of the Gen Z phenomenon.

After a years-long hiatus, HBO’s hit series Euphoria is officially slated to return in Spring 2026. The long-awaited third season of the Emmy-winning Gen-Z drama will reintroduce viewers to Rue Bennett and her chaotic, beautiful world nearly four years after Season 2 concluded in March 2022.

Speaking to Variety following the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 14, HBO and Max Content Chairman Casey Bloys confirmed the timeline: “It’ll be the spring,” he said, “but we don’t have a date confirmed yet.” The update arrives as production on Season 3 nears completion, with final filming expected to wrap in the coming weeks.

Created by Sam Levinson, Euphoria has become one of the most stylistically distinctive and culturally impactful shows of the decade. The first two seasons followed Rue (Zendaya) as she navigated the highs and harrowing lows of teenage life while struggling with drug addiction and relapse. Her orbit included a group of equally volatile classmates—Jules (Hunter Schafer), Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), Lexi (Maude Apatow), Nate (Jacob Elordi), and Maddie (Alexa Demie)—whose own storylines unraveled across a backdrop of sex, substance abuse, trauma, heartbreak, and aching self-discovery.

Season 3 promises a time jump, aging the characters into early adulthood and shifting the thematic lens toward more mature terrain. Most of the original ensemble cast is set to return. That includes Colman Domingo as Ali, Rue’s sponsor; Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs, Nate’s father; and Alanna Ubach as Suzie, the matriarch of the Howard family. Also expected back are Martha Kelly as the unsettling drug dealer Laurie, Dominic Fike as the guitar-strumming Elliott, and Chloe Cherry as Faye.

However, several cast members will not be returning. Angus Cloud, who played Rue’s soft-spoken drug dealer Fezco, tragically passed away in 2023. Storm Reid, who portrayed Rue’s younger sister Gia, and Nika King, who played their mother Leslie, are also not expected back. Barbie Ferreira (Kat) and Austin Abrams (Ethan) have exited the series as well.

Season 3 will also introduce a fresh lineup of faces to East Highland. Spanish singer Rosalía and actress Sharon Stone will join the cast, as will Kadeem Hardison, known for starring opposite Zendaya in K.C. Undercover. Additional new cast members include Priscilla Delgado, Anna Van Patten, Marshawn Lynch, Toby Wallace, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Darrell Britt-Gibson, and James Landry Hébert.

Musically, the third season will be scored by returning composer Labrinth, whose genre-blending compositions have become synonymous with the show’s sonic DNA. He’ll be joined this time by none other than Hans Zimmer, the Oscar-winning composer behind Inception, Dune, and Interstellar—a collaboration that promises an even more cinematic soundscape.

In the years since its last episode, Euphoria has only grown in relevance and reputation, thanks in part to the continued rise of its cast. Zendaya has since won two Emmys for her performance as Rue, starred in Dune: Part Two, and continues to cement her place as one of Hollywood’s most bankable leading actors. Sydney Sweeney has emerged as a major star in both prestige and commercial projects, while Jacob Elordi’s turns in Saltburn and Priscilla have catapulted him into leading man territory.

With its heightened visual language, deeply felt performances, and ability to capture the ecstasy and agony of youth, Euphoria redefined what a teen drama could be. But as the show prepares to return four years later, the question now becomes: how do you evolve while staying true to the core of what made it resonate?

The answer may lie in Euphoria’s unique ability to blend aesthetic maximalism with raw emotional honesty. While its influence has sparked countless imitators, none have matched its visceral impact. With Levinson once again at the helm—and a cast that’s only become more magnetic with time—Season 3 has the potential to deepen its legacy or redefine it entirely.

Until then, Spring 2026 marks the beginning of the next chapter in Euphoria’s provocative, provocative, and visually hypnotic world.
