Following Taylor Russell’s departure, Adria Arjona steps into the co-lead role opposite Michael B. Jordan in the reimagined romantic heist film—now in production for a 2027 theatrical release.
Adria Arjona is officially joining the cast of The Thomas Crown Affair, Amazon MGM Studios’ high-profile remake of the iconic romantic heist thriller, taking on the female lead opposite Michael B. Jordan.
Arjona, best known for her recent breakout in Andor and the Cannes-premiered comedy Splitsville, replaces Taylor Russell, who quietly exited the project. The studio acted swiftly to cast Arjona, securing her just days after news of the opening spread throughout the industry. She joins a prestigious ensemble that includes Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart.
The film is currently in production in London, with Jordan also stepping behind the camera as director. A theatrical release is slated for March 5, 2027.
Though plot details remain tightly under wraps, the film is based on the 1968 original starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The updated script was written by Drew Pearce, building on a previous draft from Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. Jordan produces under his Outlier Society banner with Elizabeth Raposo, alongside Charles Roven for Atlas Entertainment. Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff also serve as producers, while Alan Trustman—the original screenwriter—is on board as executive producer.
Arjona’s addition to The Thomas Crown Affair comes during a career high. Her acclaimed turn as Bix Caleen in Andorhelped earn the Star Wars series 14 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama. This marks her latest collaboration with Amazon MGM, following Zoe Kravitz’s Blink Twice, and her upcoming Prime Video series Criminal.
Elsewhere, Arjona has been at the center of fan speculation surrounding James Gunn’s Wonder Woman reboot, with Gunn himself recently commenting that she’d make a “great” Diana Prince—though no official talks have been confirmed.
Next up, Arjona will be seen in Splitsville, opposite Dakota Johnson, Michael Angelo Covino, and Kyle Marvin. The film earned a warm reception out of Cannes and is set to debut in theaters August 22. She also recently wrapped production on A24’s action thriller Onslaught, directed by Adam Wingard.
